Sertacide is a topical antifungal cream containing Sertaconazole Nitrate 2% w/w, used to treat fungal infections of the skin, such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It is also used to treat fungal infections of the groin, armpits, and chest areas.
Composition:
- Active Ingredient: Sertaconazole Nitrate (2% w/w)
- Inactive Ingredients: Mineral oil, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, sodium cetearyl sulphate, glycerin, and fragrance.
Mechanism of Action: Sertaconazole Nitrate works by:
- Inhibiting the growth of fungi by interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes
- Disrupting the fungal cell membrane, ultimately leading to the death of the fungal organism
Indications: Sertacide is indicated for the treatment of:
- Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis)
- Jock itch (tinea cruris)
- Ringworm (tinea corporis)
- Fungal infections of the groin, armpits, and chest areas
Dosage: Apply Sertacide Cream 2% to the affected area once or twice a day for 2-4 weeks or as directed by your doctor.
Administration:
- Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and gently massage it in until fully absorbed.
- Avoid applying the cream to broken or irritated skin.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the cream.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Sertaconazole Nitrate or any component of the cream
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Skin infections or active inflammatory conditions
- History of skin cancer or lymphoma
