Rozel 60mg
Rozel (Denosumab 60mg Injection) is a prescription medication used to treat osteoporosis, a condition characterized by brittle and porous bones that can lead to fractures.
Composition:
Each 60mg injection of Rozel contains 60mg of denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds to RANKL (Receptor Activator of NF-κB Ligand). The injectable solution is sterile and preservative-free.
Mechanism of Action:
Rozel works by inhibiting the activity of RANKL, which is a key signaling molecule that regulates the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for breaking down bone tissue. By inhibiting RANKL, Rozel reduces the activity of osteoclasts, thereby decreasing bone resorption and increasing bone density.
Dosage:
The recommended dosage of Rozel is 60mg administered subcutaneously every 6 months. The injection should be given in the thigh or abdomen, and patients should be monitored for signs of injection site reactions or other adverse events.
Uses:
Rozel is indicated for the treatment of:
- Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are at high risk of fracture
- Osteoporosis in men who are at high risk of fracture
- Bone metastases (cancer that has spread to the bones)
Side Effects:
Common side effects of Rozel include:
- Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
- Fatigue
- Musculoskeletal pain
- Joint pain
- Headache
- Nausea
Rare but serious side effects include:
- Hypocalcemia (low levels of calcium in the blood)
- Atypical subtrochanteric or diaphyseal femoral fractures (breaks in the thigh bone)
- Osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue) of the jaw or femur
- Allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis)
Recommendation:
Rozel should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Patients should be monitored regularly for changes in their bone density, as well as for signs of allergic reactions or other adverse events.
Important Note:
Rozel is not recommended for use in:
- Patients with a history of osteonecrosis or other bone disorders
- Patients with a history of kidney disease or severe kidney impairment
- Patients with a history of liver disease or severe liver impairment
- Patients with hypocalcemia or other calcium-related disorders
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Additionally, patients with a history of dental problems or other oral health issues should be monitored closely while using Rozel.
