AXZYB 5MG TAB is a prescription medication used to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). It is a tablet that contains axitinib, a medication that works by blocking the growth of new blood vessels that feed the cancer.
Composition:
Each tablet of AXZYB 5MG TAB contains 1mg of axitinib.
Mechanism of Action:
Axitinib works by blocking the action of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptors, which are proteins that play a key role in the growth and development of new blood vessels. By blocking the action of VEGF receptors, axitinib inhibits the growth of new blood vessels that feed the cancer, thereby slowing down the growth of the cancer.
Uses:
AXZYB 5MG TAB is used to treat:
- Advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) in patients who have received prior therapy
- Advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) in combination with pembrolizumab
Dosage:
The recommended dosage of AXZYB 5MG TAB is:
- 1mg taken twice daily, with or without food
- Take with or without food
Side Effects:
Common side effects of AXZYB 5MG TAB include:
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Hypertension
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Palpitations
- Swelling
Recommendation:
AXZYB 5MG TAB is recommended for patients who have not received prior therapy for advanced renal cell carcinoma. Patients should also be advised to drink plenty of water and to eat small, frequent meals during treatment to help reduce the risk of nausea and vomiting.
Important Note:
Patients should not take AXZYB 5MG TAB if they have a history of severe allergic reactions, liver problems, or kidney problems. Patients should also inform their healthcare provider if they have any underlying medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or seizure disorders, before taking AXZYB 5MG TAB.
