Febucip 40mg

Febucip (Febuxostat) 40mg is a medication used to treat chronic gout. It is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, which works by reducing the production of uric acid in the body.

Composition: Each tablet of Febucip contains 40mg of Febuxostat (an active pharmaceutical ingredient), which is a non-purine, selective inhibitor of xanthine oxidase.

Mechanism of Action: Febuxostat works by inhibiting the activity of xanthine oxidase, an enzyme that is responsible for the conversion of xanthine to uric acid. By reducing the production of uric acid, Febuxostat helps to reduce the levels of uric acid in the blood and decrease the frequency and severity of gout attacks.

Dosage: The recommended dose of Febucip is 80mg once daily. However, in patients with severe kidney impairment or those who are taking medications that can interact with Febuxostat, the dose may be reduced to 40mg once daily.

Rare but serious side effects include:

• Increased risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, stroke, and cardiac arrhythmias

• Increased risk of liver damage, including liver failure and liver transplant
• Increased risk of hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome
