### Persol Plus (Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide Gel)
**PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:**
Persol Plus is a topical gel that combines two active ingredients, adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, to treat acne. This combination provides a well-rounded approach to acne management, targeting multiple aspects of acne pathophysiology.
**COMPOSITION:**
– **Adapalene**: Typically 0.1% or 0.3%. A topical retinoid that modulates skin cell growth and differentiation, and helps prevent clogged pores.
– **Benzoyl Peroxide**: Usually 2.5% to 10%. An antibacterial agent that reduces the number of bacteria on the skin and has a keratolytic (exfoliating) effect, helping to clear existing acne lesions and prevent new ones.
**MECHANISM OF ACTION:**
1. **Adapalene**:
– Reduces keratinocyte proliferation and promotes skin cell turnover.
– Decreases the formation of microcomedomes (the precursor to acne lesions).
– Has anti-inflammatory properties that help decrease redness and swelling.
2. **Benzoyl Peroxide**:
– Kills *Propionibacterium acnes*, the bacteria involved in the development of acne.
– Acts as a mild exfoliant, helping to clear pores and reduce the formation of new acne lesions.
– Reduces inflammation and redness associated with acne.
