Talimus is a topical ointment that contains Tacrolimus, a potent immunosuppressive agent, which is used to treat atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children over 2 years old.
Composition: Talimus contains 0.1% w/w Tacrolimus, which is a macrolide immunosuppressant that helps to reduce inflammation and itching associated with atopic dermatitis.
Mechanism of Action: Tacrolimus works by:
- Inhibiting the activity of T-lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell involved in the immune response
- Reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are proteins that promote inflammation
- Inhibiting the expression of adhesion molecules, which are proteins that help immune cells stick to each other and to the skin
Indications: Talimus is indicated for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in adults and children over 2 years old who have not responded to or who have had an inadequate response to other treatments.
