Triomune 30

Triomune 30 is a fixed-dose combination tablet that contains three antiretroviral medications:

• Lamivudine (150mg): a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI)
• Stavudine (30mg): a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI)
• Nevirapine (200mg): a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI)

Mechanism of Action:

The combination of Lamivudine, Stavudine, and Nevirapine works in the following way:

• Lamivudine and Stavudine inhibit the activity of HIV reverse transcriptase, an enzyme necessary for the virus to replicate.
• Nevirapine binds to the reverse transcriptase enzyme, preventing it from converting the viral RNA into DNA.

Uses:

Triomune 30 is used to treat HIV infection in adults and adolescents. It is recommended for patients who have not previously received antiretroviral therapy or who have failed other antiretroviral regimens.

Dosage:

The recommended dosage of Triomune 30 is one tablet taken once daily, with food.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Triomune 30 include:

• Rash
• Abnormal dreams
• Increased blood lipids
• Neuropathy (nerve damage)

Important Note:

• Triomune 30 is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease (Child-Pugh C).

• Patients taking other medications, including antiretroviral agents, may be at risk for interactions with Triomune 30.
