CANESTAN VAGINAL TABLET is an antifungal medication containing Clotrimazole, used to treat vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis). It is available as a vaginal tablet for insertion into the vagina.

Mechanism of Action

Fungistatic & Fungicidal:

Disrupts ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes.

Causes leakage of cellular contents, killing yeast (Candida albicans).

Broad-spectrum against Candida species and some dermatophytes.
Dosage & Administration
For Vaginal Candidiasis:

100 mg Tablet:
-
Insert 1 tablet intravaginally daily at bedtime for 6–7 days.

500 mg Tablet (Single-Dose):
-
Insert 1 tablet intravaginally once (preferably at bedtime).

How to Use:

Wash hands before application.
-
Lie on your back, insert the tablet deep into the vagina using an applicator (if provided).

Avoid tampons/douching during treatment.

✔ Symptoms relief (itching, discharge, burning).
Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place.

Keep the strip/blister sealed until use.
Recommendations
✔ Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
✔ Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment (may cause irritation).
✔ Partner treatment is usually unnecessary unless symptomatic.
✔ Use external cream (if provided) for vulvar itching.
